Jaelan Phillips grandfather Jon Robertson is a well-known pianist, composer, and the dean of the music conservatory at Lynn University in Boca Raton.

Jaelan Phillips is an outside linebacker for the National Football League’s Miami Dolphins in American football (NFL).

He spent two seasons playing college football at UCLA before medically retiring in 2018 due to multiple concussions and other injuries.

Before enrolling in the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami in 2019, he also studied music production at Los Angeles City College.

There, he played football again for the Miami Hurricanes. The Dolphins selected Phillips in the opening round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

Phillips participated in seven games as a true freshman in 2017 and managed to amass 21 tackles, two pass deflections, and 3.5 sacks. 

Phillips was forced to medically retire from football in December 2018 due to several severe injuries, including getting struck by a car while using a moped. He then enrolled in a music production course at Los Angeles City College.
