Fans are curious to know about Rita Moreno from the movie ‘Beauty And The Beast’ as it celebrated its 30th anniversary of release on Thursday.

Rita Moreno is a singer, dancer, and actress from Puerto Rico. She is one of the few remaining stars from the Golden Age of Hollywood filmmaking and is well known for her work in various fields of the entertainment business. 

She has appeared in countless film, television, and theatrical projects over her extended career over seven decades.

Moreno is among the rare performers to have received an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony award among her many other honors (EGOT).

Rosa Mara (née Marcano), a seamstress, and Francisco José “Paco” Alvero, a farmer, welcomed Moreno into Humacao, Puerto Rico. She went by the name “Rosita.” 

Moreno was raised in the neighboring Juncos by her mother, who was 17 at the time of her birth. Justino Marcano and Trinidad were her Spanish maternal grandparents.

Francisco, Moreno’s younger brother, was left behind when Moreno’s mother went to New York City in 1936. Moreno would not see Francisco again until 2021.

She spent her adolescence in the Long Island communities of Valley Stream, a part of the town of Hempstead that borders New York City.
