Sheldon Layman is an American football player playing for ‘The Austin Peay Governors football team.

The American football team for Austin Peay State University is named the Austin Peay Governors. The University of Memphis transferred Sheldon Layman to Austin Peay in 2021. 

Before 2022, the Governors competed in NCAA Division I, including the Football Championship Subdivision, as a member of the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC).

Before that, he played for a Memphis team in 2019 that concluded with a 12-2 record and won the American Athletic Conference Championship.

Sheldon had a strong performance in his first career start against Murray State on October 23. He threw for 134 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 72 yards on 12 touches.

Layman additionally made two punts totaling 65 yards, one of which pinned the Racers inside their 5-yard line. He made his second start at No. 12 UT Martin and completed 11 passes for 104 yards.

Austin Peay Governors QB completed 34 throws for 353 yards and three touchdowns to finish the 2021 season. He also gained 58 passing yards on just 21 attempts.
